Don't miss the bus

·

Those who haven't already taken a low-fare bus from D.C. to another east coast destination during their time at AU have certainly heard stories from those who have. Some will tell the horrors of the onboard bathroom malfunctions, or drivers who leave people at rest stops, while others will recount their experience as a victory over "the man," who, as many suspect, would like to charge college students much, much more to go hither and thither.

Thumbs up Men's B-Ball 2OT Thriller... The team gave the fans quite a game, overcoming Army and exposing their lack of a viable exit strategy, winning 65-63. Eagles top Army in extra, extra time

Maybe the AU men's basketball team believed a nine-game winning streak against Army dating back to when Kennedy roamed the West Wing and its 5-11 record were enough for a second straight Patriot League win. But instead it took two overtimes and two game-tying 3-point shots from junior guard Andre Ingram for AU to escape any talk of Army being due with a 65-63 win Wednesday at Bender Arena.

Staff editorial: Laptops not for class

It's not even a week into class, and many AU students may find they are already being interrupted or distracted by their fellow classmates piddling on their laptops in class. Many students legitimately use their computers to take notes, but we can't help but remember how seemingly many more chat on AIM or check scores on ESPN, update Facebook and partake in games of Snood.

Throwbacks and comebacks: New fashion trends quickly take over in 2006

Spandex It makes people apprehensive to hear that spandex is coming back. It's understandable. It conjures up the memories of 9-year-olds in huge sweaters with those god-awful stirrup pants. Well, dear readers, not to worry! The leggings and unitards of 2006 are not to be worn alone, except for the most daring (not recommended).

Out of context

"I need a new dictionary. Mine doesn't have the word 'piss' in it." -Eagle friend S. E. Dobbs, on certain personal demands of our lexicon Upon returning to AU after a semester abroad, a student soon became disgruntled at the local Container Store. The epitome of the American University yuppie, complete with slick iPod, absurd Starbucks concoction and sharp sweater vest, accosted the student and attempted to engage her in a loud conversation concerning his new townhouse.

Women falter against Army

The AU women's basketball team continued a disappointing month by losing to the Army Black Knights Tuesday night at Bender Arena, 75-66, to drop to 4-13, 1-3 in the Patriot League. The Eagles used a strong first half to build a two-point halftime lead, but an 12-1 Army run to open the second half put the Eagles behind for good.
