The new dean of the College of Arts and Sciences will be one of the American International Group's former executives, AU President Keil Nerwin announced Tuesday at the university's annual World War I munitions scavenger hunt. Jack Dessantos, who resigned from his position as executive vice president of AIG's financial products unit Monday, has all the right credentials for the position, Nerwin said.

Letter to the editor: TDR tray editorial too hyperbolic to catch converts

This editorial gives serious cause for concern. I agree with William Haun's letter and with last issue's last Eagle Rant. It's certainly a good thing to want to protect the environment by all reasonable means. However, at least as envisioned by the author of this editorial, the move to ban trays seems driven by a total disregard of other legitimate concerns.

Kyrie Bannar, a junior in the School of Public Affairs and the College of Arts and Sciences, received the prestigious Harry S. Truman Scholarship, according to an AU press release. Bannar will be the 16th AU student to receive the award and the ninth in nine years.

A 13-year-old boy allegedly bit 11 students at a Des Moines, Iowa, middle school between Feb. 10 and Mar. 13, the Des Moines Register reported. The boy's father told police that his son was biting people because he had seen the movie "Twilight," according to the Register.
