Eagles get served by Arizona and Albany

The AU volleyball team was rudely awakened in the first two games of the American Volleyball Classic this weekend in Bender Arena before regrouping to pull out a victory Saturday night. Heading into their annual home tournament, coach Barry Goldberg and his previously 3-2 Eagles hoped to make a stand against No. 15 Arizona Wildcats and build on that for the remaining two games of round robin play against the University of Albany and Temple University.

Most teams would be drained after logging as many miles as the AU men's soccer team has this year, but not the Eagles who fought hard and earned a 3-0 win over Cornell.

MacAdie leads AU XC to top place at Navy invitational

The wind and torrential rain at Saturday's Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md. was no obstacle for the AU cross country teams. The men's squad easily claimed the team title, outdistancing Navy 20-41. The women captured second-place honors in a field of nine teams.

Lee Banks win against VCU

The AU Women's Soccer team entered this year with heaps of potential but not nearly as much experience. Yet as the season has progressed, the Eagles have met nearly every challenge, gaining experience and an impressive record. That continued Thursday, as the team passed its stiffest test this fall, defeating a foreboding Virginia Commonwealth team 2-1 at Reeves Field with a late goal from sophomore forward Jana Lee.

The Eagles cross-country teams, projected by Patriot League coaches and sports information directors to repeat as PL champions, prepared for Saturday's Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md., by finishing strongly in early-season meets that highlighted AU's depth and talent.

Slammers face No. 1

After clawing for every single point they earned in a 3-0 loss to the two-time defending national champions, University of Southern California, on Friday night, the Eagles pulled together to oust the University of Miami (Ohio) 3-1 on Saturday to win third place in the State Farm Illinois Classic, hosted by the University of Illinois.

AU captures men's D.C. College Cup

When the AU Men's Soccer team came from a goal down to defeat Georgetown 2-1 on Monday afternoon and clinch the D.C. College Cup at Reeves Field, one thing became clear - this is not last year's team. That team went 7-9-1 and never had a come-from-behind victory.

Eagles fall to Michigan in tournament final

Despite losing to the Michigan Wolverines 3-1 in the final of the Manhattan Volleyball Invitational on Sunday, AU coach Barry Goldberg and the volleyball squad left New York City confident that they can play with elite national competition.
