Men's Tennis wins PL 2005 season crown The AU Men's Tennis team (13-3, 5-0 Patriot League) upset No. 67 Army and beat Colgate on the road as it clinched home-court advantage in the PL championships for the fourth consecutive year. Eagle junior Sebastien Proisy survived a three-set battle (6-3, 4-6, 6-3) in what proved to be the deciding match in Saturday's narrow 4-3 decision over the Black Knights (16-4, 3-1).

AU 184-pounder Josh Glenn was named the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association's Freshman of the Year, league officials announced Monday. Glenn becomes the first AU wrestler to win a season-ending award since AU joined the EIWA three years ago. In the 2004-05 season, Glenn was ranked No.

If anyone can relate to the potential elimination of three AU teams after the spring of 2006, it's the swimmers of Dartmouth College. Administrators at the Ivy League school announced the elimination the men's and women's teams two years ago as part of a two-year, $10.

Sports Brief: Jaysingh named Player of the Month

AU senior Juan Jaysingh won recognition as the Patriot League Men's Tennis Player of the Month for March, league officials announced Tuesday. As the team's only senior, Jaysijngh normally plays in the No. 3 singles position, and he went 5-2 in his singles matches for the month.

It'd be nice if everyone responded to adversity as the AU men's tennis team has, but running out to a 10-3 record and jumping atop the Patriot League standings. Following the announcing of the future cutting of their program in late February, the Eagles have posted a 11-3 record and a 3-0 league record, tied for the best in the PL with this Saturday's foe, Army.

It would be nice if everyone responded to adversity as the AU Men's Tennis team has, by running out to an 11-3 record and jumping atop the Patriot League standings. Following the announcement of the future cutting of their program in late February, the Eagles have won 11 of their first 14 games, including all three PL games, which tied them for the best record in the PL with Saturday's foe, Army.

The AU Men's Tennis team kept rolling this weekend, dominating in a critical Patriot League clash Sunday at Navy, 6-1, after dismissing St. Bonaventure by the same score in a home tilt on Friday. The pair of victories puts AU at 10-3 overall and 2-0 in a still-young PL season.

Last weekend's matches at Reeves Field showcased two sides of the Women's Lacrosse team: The one that's assertive only late in the game, and the one that can put on 60 minutes of pressure. The latter side showed up Sunday for the Eagles (5-6, 3-0 Patriot League), who led LaSalle (5-5) in the opening minutes before striking hard in the second half as they broke a two-match losing streak, 17-13.

NBA unveils new defeatist ad campaign aimed at NCAA

With college basketball's March Madness stealing the hearts and souls of hoops fans throughout the nation, the NBA launched a new promotional campaign today aimed at catching the runoff of fans experiencing post-madness withdrawal. The campaign, "We're Not as Exciting as College Basketball, but We're Here Until June," goes by the acronym WNECBWHUJ, and is a direct response to the disintegration of the league's television ratings and general interest to the public over the past month.

Women's Lacrosse stays perfect in PL

With two tough games in five days, AU Women's Lacrosse came out even, winning its Patriot League home opener against Villanova, 7-5, on Saturday but losing at University of Maryland-Baltimore County, 9-8, in double overtime Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles got everything they could handle when the Villanova Wildcats came to Reeves field.

Kollof's top-10 finish leads way for AU golf at Diablo Grande invite Playing in its fourth tournament in as many weeks, the AU Men's Golf team placed 12th at the Diablo Grande Invitational in Patterson, Calif. The team finished with a combined score of 968, 64 strokes off the lead.

The team finished with a combined score of 968, 64 strokes off the lead. However, only 32 strokes separated fourth through twelfth place with AU being kept out of the top ten by a mere 13 strokes.
