MP3.com closes its browser

Dec. 2 was doomsday for independent music. As of noon Tuesday, Mp3.com closed its server and deleted its roughly 750,000 files, marking the end of the largest catalogue of free Internet downloads from hundreds of thousands of unsigned bands, as well as downloadable tracks from an array of artists on Universal Records, the site's former owner.

Simon and Garfunkel play classic concert

When Art Garfunkel, of '60s folk-rock duo Simon and Garfunkel, called "Kathy's Song" a song of "sweet nostalgia" at Sunday night's sold-out show in Toronto, the same could have been said of the entire evening. "Sorry it took us so long to get this together," Garfunkel told the audience of more than 18,000. "But we're thrilled to be here."

It may be getting cold outside, but the production of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," will leave audiences with that "oh so warm and fuzzy feeling." Brought to life at Ford's Theater, the tale of cold-hearted Ebenezer Scrooge's embracing of the spirit of the season is something that no one should miss.

Breaking News: Arson sets trash afire in Anderson and Letts

A series of fires in Anderson and Letts halls early Friday morning are currently under investigation for arson, according to Julie Weber, executive director of Housing and Dining Programs. Five fires were set in trash cans in bathrooms and laundry rooms through the buildings, and evidence of attempted fires - which did not ignite - were found in five additional areas, and included posters on some residence-hall doors.

Silver lining for Mens' Basketball

It took longer than they would have liked, but after tough losses at home against Delaware on Nov. 26 and at Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday, the Eagles snatched their first win of the season with an 83-69 win at Radford Tuesday. AU moves to 1-3 with the win while Radford drops to 3-2.

V-ball takes PL title yet again

Sunday's Patriot League Volleyball championship in Bender Arena had all the trappings of a typical match-up between AU and Bucknell. There were multiple lead changes, an aggressive Bucknell defense to counter AU's powerful hitting, and a yellow card given to the Bisons animated coach, Cindy Opalski. And, characteristic of the previous outings between the teams, the Eagles came out on top, proving to be too strong for the Bison.

Vigil for Chinese detainees

The flicker of candlelight was seen on the main Quad last Friday as 30 Falun Gong practitioners held a candlelight vigil to 'rescue' practitioners who are persecuted in China. Members from AU's Falun Dafa Club and the AU community showed up to give their support and bring awareness to the campus about practitioners such as Dr. Charles Lee, who has been detained in China for over 10 months.
