Wrestling team falls hard in a brain-bashing battle at Maryland

The AU Wrestling team suffered a tough loss 31-12 to the Maryland Terrapins when they traveled to College Park on Wednesday night.

Graduate student Daniel Waters grappled well in the 184-lb. class with a win by a decision. Waters is ranked as one of the top wrestlers in the country in wins. Sophomore Tom Kniezewski also won by a decision in the 149-lb. class. Heavyweight senior Jared Hyman took home the top spot by way of a forfeit.

Senior Matt Pelligrino (125-lb.) lost by a major decision, while junior Adam Montgomery (197-lb.), sophomore Daniel Lobsenz (141-lb.) and freshman Dwayne Hash-Baberis (164-lb.) lost by a decision.

Montgomery collided with his opponent during his match, where he had a concussion and needed six stitches.

Sophomore Eric Levine (133-lb.) was pinned in 57 seconds.
