Letter from the editor: My AU journey is over, but my legacy lives on

To say that this year has been a challenge for me is quite an understatement. After spending many days and nights in The Eagle office holding staff meetings, working on breaking news stories and designing web and print projects, I was looking forward to finally celebrating my accomplishments with my friends and staff at the Student Media release party and, later, at graduation. After four tumultuous years as a student journalist, everything was starting to pay off, and I went on spring break to recharge for the second half of my final semester.

Opinion: Don’t blame students for requesting better access to mental healthcare

I like to compare my anxiety disorder to a spiral. It coils around my heart, and on a good day, it’s relaxed, hanging loosely around it. There are other days, though, when the coil winds itself tight around my chest, making it hard to breathe and work and do any of the countless other activities of an AU student. Those days were the reason I sought out the Counseling Center at AU – but I quickly learned that it would be three weeks before an intake appointment.
