Lack of Madness no help to AU

Going into my third year at AU as a student-athlete, I have noticed a distinct difference between a real Div. I university and our Div. 1 university.

World Series in a box

We can all stop crying now. The Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs will not meet in the World Series. With both teams five outs away from the Fall Classic and with three-run leads, the Curse of the Goat (Cubs) and the Curse of the Bambino (Red Sox) struck again as a fan and a struggling third baseman sent the two Cinderellas home with no glass slipper. Instead, we get the New York Yankees, with 26 World Championships, and the underdog Florida Marlins, who have never lost a postseason series. In just their 11th year, the Marlins will make their second trip to the Series.

Women's B-ball looks to score

This year, Head coach Shann Hart, forward Chanel Hunt and guard Chanel Spriggs return, determined not to let another opportunity for Patriot League supremacy elude them. Although the Eagles lost four players, the squad they have now is one of quickness, defense, improved offense and senior leadership.

Curse haunts the MLB

Only five outs stood between the Boston Red Sox and the World Series on Thursday night and most Red Sox fans were convinced the curse had been broken. The team had a chance to win their first championship since 1918. Same was the case on Tuesday night, when the Chicago Cubs were five outs away from heading to their first World Series in what seemed like centuries.

Men beat Colgate 3-2 in Homecoming

To a fan, junior Peter Philipakos' 63rd minute strike may have looked like an insurance goal at the time, pushing the Eagles' lead over Colgate to 3-1, but if this season has taught AU Men's Soccer anything, it's the value of insurance.

Eagles bring one home, 3-0

Must-win out-of-conference games in October don't come around too often. But with AU Men's Soccer trapped in a four game losing skid, Wednesday's home clash with Princeton was just that. The Eagles rose to the challenge, playing their most complete game of the year in a 3-0 win at Reeve's Field.
