The years of uncertainty about baseball's Montreal Expos might finally come to a head this month. The Associated Press recently reported that league officials will decide where to put the struggling franchise after the July 13 All-Star Game, and Northern Virginia and D.C. seem to be the frontrunners.

As the home of the federal government, D.C. is the political hub of America. It comes as no surprise, then, that many students who come to AU are politically active. You certainly don't need to be politically active to have an enriching experience at AU, but if you do take an interest in politics, this is a great place to spend four years.

Congress has been working on a bill that could dramatically aid the Recording Industry Association of America in its quest to stop illegal file-sharing. The bill aims to involve the Justice Department in suing file-sharers while giving the department $2 million to fund the effort.

Homeland Security stays across street

The Department of Homeland Security will now permanently reside across the street from AU at the Nebraska Avenue Naval Security Complex after the passage of a House bill, which squelches the fears of D.C. Congresswoman Eleanor Homes Norton (D-D.C.) that the department would move outside the city, taking thousands of federal jobs with it.

Polyphonic Spree robes up for D.C. show

Polyphonic Spree, a band with more than 20 members that don robes before going on stage, will play at the 9:30 club Monday, Aug. 16. They are touring in support of their second album, which has more depth than their first release, the Spree's trombonist said in an interview.
