After a strong 9-6-3 season, the AU men’s soccer team lost to the Bucknell University Bison 1-0 in the Patriot League Championship game.

Field hockey loses in first round of NCAA’s

AU field hockey's season ended in defeat Saturday, falling to top seeded University of Maryland 6-1 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The AU men’s basketball team let an 11 point halftime lead slip away as they lost to St. Francis University in Pennsylvania, while the women used a strong second half to defeat Howard in the regular season openers for both teams.

Volleyball fails to claim PL regular season

Though AU volleyball had the opportunity to claim home court advantage for the Patriot League Championship by winning both of their games over the weekend, Army still claimed the regular season title.

Field Hockey gets second straight NCAA bid

The AU Field Hockey team will be playing in the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in seven years, after defeating Lock Haven University Tuesday afternoon at Jacobs Field. AU beat LSU for the second consecutive time and scored 2-1 in the play-in game.

The AU women’s basketball team kicked off the 2009-2010 season in convincing fashion over the weekend, dismantling Virginia Wesleyan College 98-34 in an exhibition game at Bender Arena.

The AU Men’s basketball team pulled their exhibition record to 1-1 with a win over Catholic University Cardinals 70-64 on Sunday. The Eagles had a 12-point advantage going into halftime and never gave up the lead. Catholic closed the deficit to four early in the second half.

John Lee Hancock’s new film, “The Blind Side,” tells the inspiring true story of Michael Oher, the Baltimore Ravens’ rookie starting left tackle. For those who do not know of Oher (played by Quinton Aaron), he grew up in Memphis, Tenn., where the Touhy family took him into their home.

In their final game of the season, AU Men’s Soccer suffered their second Patriot League loss to the Colgate Raiders by a score of 1-0 at Reeves Field Saturday. The Eagles were looking to clinch the Patriot League Season Championship, but were unsuccessful. Despite the loss the team still clinches a bid to next weekend’s Patriot League Tournament.

It is only fitting that the Patriot League Women’s Soccer Championship between AU and Colgate University ended in double overtime, but much like the last double-overtime game between these two schools, AU was on the losing side with a final score of 1-0.

Volleyball sweeps weekend slate

The Eagles disposed of both the College of Holy Cross and the Army Academy in four sets on Friday and Saturday, respectively. AU beat Holy Cross Friday night 25-14, 19-25, 25-14 and 25-11. They also went on to be Army 25-22, 25-22, 21-25 and 25-21.

Men’s soccer loses to UVA 3-0 on the road

The AU men’s soccer team was shutout for the sixth time this season in a 3-0 loss on the road to the tenth ranked University of Virginia Cavaliers Tuesday night. It is the second straight loss for the Eagles, who lost to Holy Cross on Saturday.

While it was only an exhibition game, the sloppy play may be a cause for concern. Head Coach Jeff Jones said the squad needs to find an identity in order to win. They play Catholic University on Nov. 8.
