The last time Tiger Woods played in a tournament, he won. At this year’s Masters Tournament, Woods will win again but with a much different life and under much different circumstances.
The AU men’s basketball team stood victorious over Lafayette College at the Patriot League game Saturday. With 26 points coming from junior Vlad Moldoveanu, the final score was 78-60. This win gave AU fourth seed in the Patriot League Tournament starting Wednesday. Their first game will pit the Eagles against the Navy Midshipmen.
What has already been an intriguing, surprising and eventful college basketball season has two weeks left before the intensity heats up and the country turns its head towards the NCAA Tournament.
After falling in the playoffs last season, the Cavaliers went out and signed Shaquille O’Neal. The goal of brining him in was to help LeBron win the elusive championship ring. Despite Shaq’s numerous injury problems and lack of playtime, LeBron has the Cavaliers in firm control of the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Not only do the Cavs look to be in control; they just completed the season sweep of the Lakers.
Maria Sharapova, Ana Ivanovic, Jelena Jankovic, Dinara Safina and Serena Williams have all been ranked number one in the world at some point in their tennis careers, but their dominance is now threatened by Justine Henin’s decision to return to the sport.
In a close battle, men’s swimming and diving edged out the Georgetown Hoyas 120.5-118.5, while the women’s team fell 83-159.
This past weekend all four wild-card game winners (Jets, Ravens, Cardinals, Cowboys) won not because they could rack up endless numbers of touchdowns and field goals, but because they could play defense.
One month into the season, AU’s men’s basketball team earned their first win in a game against Howard University Tuesday night.
