In the 1950s, radio was considered a wild frontier that could make or break up-and-coming regional talent. Frequencies carried stations across the barren airwaves that stretched through state lines and time zones. People like Cleveland disc jockey Alan Freed could go wild and play a Little Richard record over a dozen times in a row with only his station manager to answer to.

"Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite." I know my mother told it to me each night before bed until I was about six years old. I used to lie in bed imagining big red and blue bugs crawling underneath my sheets. After waking up with about a dozen tiny bites all over my arms, I think it's safe to say that bed bugs aren't the gigantic, colorful creatures I once imagined them to be. Instead, they're probably closer to a miniscule size, and probably aren't a cool color like red.

Offensively they weren't bad either, scoring 227 goals and accumulating 96 assists. These factors led to another first - a conference title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament, although that ended abruptly with a 19-3 drubbing at Virginia, the third-largest defeat in tournament history.

Australia's The Living End is about to drop its latest assault on the world March 2, marking its return after a three-year hiatus. But its comeback didn't come without a price. TLE had a buzz about that in Australia that eventually inked the band a deal with Reprise Records in 1998.
