Dating with an expiration date can spark mixed emotions

Graduation is creeping up like the bogie man from my childhood closet, and with graduation comes both freedom and fear of entry into the "real world." As I prepare to say goodbye to the wild memories, and AU's very own "Cheers," a.k.a. the Market Place, I have to bid farewell to the current men in my life as well.

Chow's martial arts flick brings the heat

It takes 20 minutes for Stephen Chow to show up in "Kung Fu Hustle." By that time, you almost have forgotten he was even coming. New 'Doom' installment lacks in story, delivers in death

"Doom 3," id Software's latest installment of their first-person shooter series, pulls no punches ... almost. Originally released for PC last summer, the new Xbox version looks fantastic. All over-exaggeration aside, "Doom 3" looks as if it were painted by Michelangelo with a brush crafted by a demon.

golf

By KEVIN HILGERS Eagle Staff Writer If things had gone as planned earlier this spring, the AU Golf team might have entered this weekend's Patriot League championship with its off-the-course situation on its mind. But now, with the team ensured one more year of play before its elimination, the Eagles can head to the Bucknell University Golf Course with their minds on something else: its first PL championship and trip to the AU finished the spring with two strong finishes after taking first at the Lafayette Invitational and second at George Washington's Bethany Beach Invitational.

sc, kfh review

Kung Fu Hustle A- with Stephen Chow, Qiu Yuen, Kwok Kuen Chan. Written and directed by Stephen Chow. Opens tomorrow. Chow's humor harkens back to the vaudeville rule of threes (in Chow's case, it's more like a rule of sevens). He combines slapstick, double meanings and non-stop tomfoolery with elaborate action sequences that can best be described as awe-inspiring and glorious.

'Jewel of the Mall' strikes gold

A soaring bald eagle is a pretty impressive image as it is, but replace that eagle with a giant one made of bronze, and you've got one hell of a picture. At least, that's what Stephen R. Brown, former AU professor and author of "The Jewel of the Mall," thought.

Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor: I attended American University's Freshmen Day on Friday. Currently, I am a high school senior in Bel Air, Md., and will soon be an Eagle. I found AU to be one of the most interesting and vibrant campuses I have visited. However, I do have to say that I have never seen so many Polo shirt-clad, pearl-wearing girls anywhere in one place.

In the past couple of weeks I have been exposed to the constant onslaught of vegetarian health claims and campaigns on the AU campus.
