Over the week of Thanksgiving, the American University men’s basketball team (6-4) won three of their four home games. The Eagles defeated the Division III Marywood Pacers (4-1) 113-53 on Nov. 24 ahead of the inaugural Capital Thanksgiving Classic hosted by American. During the tournament, American beat the Maine Black Bears (0-10) 74-61 on Nov. 28, lost to the Siena Saints (7-2) 59-55 on Nov. 29 and beat the Longwood Lancers (5-5) 92-66 on Nov. 30.

The DC Holiday Market opened Nov. 14 in Dupont Circle, launching a 38-day festival featuring more than 35 local vendors and welcoming shoppers daily through Dec. 23.
AU Staff Union continues to press University administration on contract bargaining, with members expressing their grievances with the contract bargaining process. The administration’s recent updates to the labor contract, staff said, left them feeling unable to focus on the success of their students.

Just in time for the holidays, the School of Public Affairs rang in the season with community bonding before finals. The SPA’s Thanksgiving and Graduate Council Friendsgiving hoped to rectify the stress with free food and conversation among staff and students.

Fans of the musical will not be disappointed with “Wicked: For Good.” Jon M. Chu’s expansions on the existing material were fantastic, and for fans of the musical, the film felt close to perfect. It’s rare for a movie adaptation of such a beloved Broadway show to feel both reverent and ambitious, but both “Wicked” movies have managed that quite successfully.
