Because new and returning students have approached me with questions about The Eagle I am writing this in response to encourage full disclosure and connectedness between The Eagle and its readers.

Two AU College Republicans who are in New York City for the Republican National Convention this week were encouraged by the upbeat atmosphere there, despite the appearance of anti-Republican protesters at one of their events.

Summer tours slump in 2004

In 2004 the magic of the summer tour season seemed to depart quietly. This summer ticket sales have slumped deeply and across the board. Speculation is running high regarding the reasons for these slumps, with the responsibility of major losses hanging over the music industry's head.

Scissor Sisters cut down generic labels

"We're poised to be the gay Matchbox Twenty," Del Marquis, guitarist for the rock band the Scissor Sisters, proclaimed in a phone interview. "It's weird because we're a little bit more of a cult pop act here in the U.K. and Europe, and in the States we're going to be one of those pop acts with a successful single, and then everybody realizes what you look like.

Interview: Kings of the 'Castle'

Kal Penn and John Cho are running late for their interview. It's easy to make assumptions about the people in the movie business but this is the first major press circuit for both of them. D.C. is the midway point on their 11 stop national press circuit and here in The Ritz Carlton Georgetown, they are set to sit for a brief last minute interview before they move on.

Program Adviser Kimlin leaves

Ernie Kimlin, who has been an AU program advisor for three years, resigned effective July 1 to take the role of assistant dean for campus life and administration at Brevard College in North Carolina.

Former WAMU director sues AU, Ladner

Susan Clampitt, the former executive director of AU-owned WAMU-FM 88.5, who was fired Oct. 30, filed a $12 million lawsuit against AU and President Benjamin Ladner on June 30 for wrongful termination, the Washington Times reported July 12. A former employee of Clampitt's comments on her management.
