Money-making majors

A recent study by professors at Northeastern University has attested to the importance of your major in determining your income. Some of the majors that help you earn the highest incomes are engineering, physics, economics and astronomy, while the lowest earners include education, social work, visual arts, and music. Interestingly, AU offers several of the high-earning majors, but only two percent of AU students are declared in them.

Raiders break Eagles' four-win streak

The AU Women's Soccer team lost an emotional and intense game against conference rival Colgate University, 2-1, at Reeves Field Saturday. This is AU's second straight loss to Colgate. The Raiders' victory broke the Eagles' four-game winning streak.

Metro's red line still not given green light

Metro riders experienced more delays on the Red Line this weekend, as work continued in preparation for the opening of the New York Avenue station on Nov. 20. The same delays can be expected until the new station opens. Next weekend, the Red Line will be shut down between Union Station and Fort Totten, and another closing of this kind is scheduled for late October or early November.

Former PM urges multilateral solution

The United States must work multilaterally if it wants to win the war on terror, former Canadian Prime Minister Joseph Clark said Thursday in his keynote address at the Six Universities Conference at AU. Clark, a Distinguished-Statesman-in-Residence in the School of International Service, said that since 9/11, "the international community is more inter and less national.

Supergrass hits stage rockin'

The crowd jumped, the drums shook and multicolored lights flashed from the stage. British favorite Supergrass played a set of good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll at the 9:30 club Wednesday. Detractors assumed anglophiles would instead go to see Morrissey at DAR Constitutional Hall, but the capacity crowd proved otherwise.

Coach Barry Goldberg picked up career wins 380 and 381, and the AU Volleyball squad remained unbeaten in Patriot League play with convincing victories over Holy Cross and Army at home Friday and Saturday night.

Facebook in legal face-off over ownership

Thefacebook.com, a social networking Web site for college students, faces a lawsuit from the creators of a similar Web site, ConnectU.com. The three Harvard University graduates who created ConnectU contend that thefacebook's creator, Mark Zuckerberg, stole their idea when he worked for ConnectU.

The Rusty Nail: Freshmen need to bond

I was recently at a kegger attended by hundreds of freshman. I did not do this on purpose. As you should know, I am totally against underage drinking (ha, ha). To make things more fun, it was a theme party. A Catholic school theme. Good times. I actually went to a parochial school, but I never had any experiences with jungle juice or even girls with pigtails. What a shame.

Game room to open in Letts

A new game room that will include billiards, air hockey, board games, card games and an Xbox will open in Letts Formal Lounge Wednesday. A release party is planned on opening day, featuring free pizza, drinks and a contest to name the room. "This is a testing year for the game room," explains Amber Lange, resident director of Letts Hall.
