Keeping payers, players separate

By now everyone has seen the tape. New York Yankee Gary Sheffield goes to get the ball from in front of the bleachers and is "interfered with" by a fan at Boston's Fenway Park. Sheffield semi-retaliates, but the incident is thwarted before it escalates. Major League Baseball has said it will probably not take action against Sheffield, and the fan also will not be punished.

Opinion: GA criticisms misinformed, misguided

I am happy to see that there are so many students passionately involved in the Pure Vida/Starbucks debate. At the same time, I am dismayed by the most vocal students: those who came to the GA at the last minute and tried to force us to side with them. The GA did have enough sense, because of one member's suggestion, to delay deciding for a few days.

Opinion: Palestinians must teach children peace

There is cause for optimism for those monitoring progress in the Middle East. A new era led by a movement toward democracy is gripping the region, and we should all approach this new era with a profound sense of hope. Entrenched in this optimism, however, lingers some of the skepticism of the past.

Corrections and clarifications

In the April 14 edition of The Eagle, a front-page article failed to clarify that attendance at Pura Vida's presentation on campus was by invitation only. As a result, statements in the article by GA member Andrew Mullin as well as a posting in the Editorial Page's "All Thumbs" feature were based on the incorrect assumption that student attendance at the presentation was poor.

Music overshadows moves in star-crossed ballet

The Washington Ballet Company's performance of "Romeo and Juliet" was a fun and entertaining adaptation of Shakespeare's most popular tragic love story. Performed at the Eisenhower Theater in the Kennedy Center, the show ran April 13-17. Artistic Director Septime Webre followed a very traditional adaptation of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet.

Ex AV nerd tears up 9:30

A funny thing happened on the way to the 21st century. In the midst of America's love affair with prepackaged music, from Lou Bega's boppy "Mambo No. 5" to the Backstreet Boys' opus "I Want it That Way," there was a primal scream let out by one of the last original club kids.

With warmth comes new fashion hassles

Spring is finally here, and in D.C. that's something to talk about. But we'd best enjoy it while we can, because only a few more weeks remain until these idyllic, breezy days turn into a swampy, muggy nightmare. I love summer as much as the next girl, but surviving it in style is a perpetual challenge.

1. Jelly Pizza in TDR Presumably the most disgusting thing in the world, TDR offered up an innovative approach to that stone pie we all know and love. Jelly. And cheese. Aptly described as "oddly delicious," jelly pizza was some intoxicated TDR worker's brainchild.

Ramblings of a real-life record store clerk

As a clerk at Crooked Beats, a record store in Adams Morgan, I know what it's like to live that "High Fidelity" lifestyle. In reality, I find myself making so many snide comments about bands I dislike, and the music I can't buy, that I feel compelled to say something positive.
