Fashion king

·

It seems as if men are always getting pushed to the side when it comes to fashion. The power and prestige resides with the women's wear designers, and on the red carpet the "Who are you wearing?" question is always directed towards the female. Men's fashion is harder to pull off.

Staff editorial: AU's Civitas week

The university will be sponsoring a week of activities it hopes will make the campus a more "civil" environment. While it is certainly a noble venture, whether or not it is necessary is another question. We feel the biggest impediment to active student participation in Civitas, is the lack of knowledge many students have of the program.

D.C. has another trendy coffeehouse/lounge/restaurant/bar/bookstore/club/"performance caf?"/place to go when it's really, really, REALLY necessary for one to tangibly convey having reached the outer orbits of absolute hipster ecstasy.

Field hockey fends off pesky Tigers

Thankfully coaches don't get paid for pretty wins alone, otherwse AU field hockey coach Steve Jennings would need a temporary loan. After an arduous win Sunday against Towson, 2-1, nobody sees the problem more than him. The Eagles (7-0) found another victory for the standings, but uncovered a new issue: effort.

Course credit offered for serving on Conduct Council

This semester students can get course credit for serving on the Conduct Council, the group that determines guilt and punishment for breaking campus rules, in an effort to encourage more students to serve on the body. Offering credit will entice more students to serve on the council, adding crucial student perspective to the body's verdicts, according to Ben Turner, director of the Student Advocacy Center.

All thumbs

Thumbs up D.C. Preparedness... We're glad that D.C. has a plan for any potential disasters. Being able to stay put is a plus as long as TDR is fully stocked. Chicken Tenders... They're selling like hotcakes in the Tavern. Too bad we can't get them every Saturday night in TDR.

Three hours ahead, but several steps behind

One of these days, AU volleyball coach Barry Goldberg will tell you, his team is going to pull off the big win. Equal opportunity dating

We were at a party with actual adults. I consider myself a semi-adult, at best a struggling adult. I don't do my laundry with any frequency and my rent always wanders into the mailbox late. I don't own a suit and I can't stand red wine. Upon walking into the Upwardly Mobile Party, I immediately noticed the wide variety of striped button-down shirts.

Media-business complex

If one were to ask people what they thought were the most important news stories of this week, then they would probably point to Hurricane Katrina, the scandal over the federal response to Hurricane Katrina, or maybe the confirmation hearings of Supreme Court nominee Judge John G.

Please, let gridiron dreams burn out

Each fall, I return to Nebraska Avenue psyched about the upcoming collegiate soccer, field hockey, and volleyball seasons. Sure, the annual thrill of dropping dead inches short of a Patriot League men's basketball title and an NCAA bid each March is worth the price of tuition alone.

Not a match made in 'Heaven'

Modern women want to have it all: a successful career, a loving partner and a life-resuscitating kiss from Mark Ruffalo. In "Just Like Heaven," Elizabeth (Reese Witherspoon) is just such a woman.
