The AU Panhellenic Association passed a new policy stating that sorority members may only participate in events with fraternities that are in “good standing” with the University at a Delegate’s Meeting on Nov. 17.
The 4330 48th St NW lot in the AU Park neighborhood behind the law school campus has been empty since late 2013 when the Fresh & Green’s grocery store closed. Developers are proposing to fill that void with a mixed-use redevelopment that would bring a grocery chain and other retail to the site as well as 200 to 250 residential units over five stories.
AU has been a “dry campus” since the 1980's. Students who are 21 or older cannot drink or possess alcohol in the residence halls or buy these products on campus. The University serves alcoholic beverages at certain special events, but that is the only limited exception.
Student Government introduced the Academic Access Fund, a $1,000 fund that will make it easier for students to pay for items such as art supplies and theater tickets. This money will be available for students receiving need-based financial aid.
