Consulting firm used by AU to find new officials has history of unsuccessful searches

Storbeck Search, the firm currently being used by American University to find a new vice president of student affairs and vice president of undergraduate enrollment, has a history of rocky searches for presidents at several universities, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.

I was 18 years old, walking through the streets of Harlem with my mother. We had just finished touring Columbia University — a microcosm of different identities, cultures and languages housed in the urban campus. I walked past a bunch of people, many of them speaking different languages, even employing a form of fluidity as they switched between English and a second language. 




Opinion: Women’s history is not just for women

I decided to take a women’s, gender, and sexuality studies class this semester. Truthfully, I needed a general elective credit and could have taken a wide variety of subjects, but I chose this one, Women’s Voices Through Time, WGSS-150, because I was interested in learning more about women and their actions in mainstream history. As a woman, I was excited to learn more about history that relates to my identity.

The first time Delaware state Sen. Sarah McBride asked someone to refer to her using she/her pronouns, she was a student at American University. It was in the McKinley Building where she first messaged a friend and asked them to use the name Sarah for her.

Edwin Santos es un estudiante originalmente de Virginia, pero de padres salvadoreños. Se enorgullece de ser hijo de inmigrantes y de ser primera generación. Se está desarrollando en Estudios Legales, con una maestría en administración pública. Actualmente cursa su tercer año en American University y se ha desempeñado en actividades en campus siendo el co-fundador de Latinos en Acción, una de las organizaciones estudiantiles con más rápido crecimiento en la universidad. Fuera del campus, se dedica a defender los derechos de los inmigrantes y crear conciencia sobre las injusticias que los inmigrantes latinos sufren. Actualmente él es candidato Latino aspirando conseguir el puesto de presidente en las elecciones estudiantiles comenzando hoy.
