Women’s Initiative and Zero Waste teamed up to host a pop-up thrift shop on the AU quad on Oct. 23 and 24. The goal was to teach students how to shop for and recycle clothes to increase sustainability. All of the proceeds will benefit the Women’s Coalition of St Croix that provides housing and counseling resources to women in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

A new major, called African-American and African Diaspora Studies, will be available for students in fall 2017, as part of the Critical Race, Gender and Culture Collaborative in the College of Arts and Sciences. Matt Tyrnauer’s new documentary “Citizen Jane: Battle for the City” is a story about Jane Jacobs and Robert Moses. Jacobs's focus on organic growth clashes with Moses's goal of redeveloping New York City from the ground up during the 1950s and 60s.
