Vicky Wilkins will serve as interim dean of the School of Public Affairs beginning July 3, according to a memo sent by Provost Scott Bass on Tuesday.
“In her three years with SPA, Dr. Wilkins has demonstrated a passion for the school and those with whom she works, enthusiasm for her work, and the expertise needed to get the job done,” Bass said in the memo. “We are fortunate to have someone with her credentials and energy assume the interim deanship.”
Wilkins has been the senior associate dean of SPA since 2014, and is currently president of the Public Administration Section of the American Political Science Association.
Before that she spent over 10 years on the faculty at the University of Georgia where she served as the director of graduate studies and earned several teaching awards, the memo said. Her research on minorities, women and policy outcomes have “made a substantial impact in the field.”
The current dean of SPA, Barbara Romzek, will step down from the position July 1.
