Letter to the editor

Look, I know many of The Eagle's writers want to write for their resume. They like politics and strive to have a future writing about it. But seriously, if I want to get an expert opinion on national politics, I'd read The Washington Post. But it's not only the lack of credibility - some of the writing is arrogant. You aren't the senior political correspondent for CNN, and no writer should think that highly of his own opinion. Also, if the opinions were actually written well, they would at least qualify as a horrible read instead of abhorrent. What I'm interested in is what the writers think about politics in school. Why not evaluate the Student Government, whose biggest accomplishment may be the pointless contesting of the "Hey" song ban? Why not evaluate the AU administration, who have many ridiculous policies? Take, for example, the fact that the penalty for having an unlit candle in your room is much stronger than the penalty for finding alcohol in your dorm room. It would be nice if the content of The Eagle was content the writers were qualified to write, rather than content they feel they are qualified to write about.
