Police blotter

Wednesday, Oct. 13

A staff member reported damage to her vehicle parked in the Sports Center Garage.

Public safety removed an individual not affiliated with the university from the President's Office after the man ignored repeated requests from the staff to leave the premises.

Thursday, Oct. 14

A McDowell Hall resident reported feeling ill, and was transported to Sibley Hospital.

An AU shuttle collided with a privately owned vehicle near the Tenleytown Metro Stop. The privately owned vehicle sustained slight damage, but there were no injuries.

A staff member reported that his car's window was broken while parked in the Nebraska Lot. Upon further inspection, it became clear that someone had tried to break into the staff member's car, as well as several other vehicles. Nothing was reported stolen.

Saturday, Oct. 16

A domestic dispute arose in Anderson Hall between a female student and a male non-student. The Metro Police Department was notified, and broke up the disturbance.

A man not affiliated with AU was barred from university property for punching out street signs near the South Campus shuttle stop.

A student's wallet, containing cash and credit cards, was stolen from an unsecured dorm room in Anderson Hall.

Sunday, Oct. 16

A Leonard Hall resident reported feeling ill, and was transported to Sibley Hospital.

The glass on the door to the lobby of Capital Hall was broken. Malicious intent is suspected.

Welders working in the Sports Center accidentally activated a fire alarm.

A student became stuck in an elevator in Letts Hall. The D.C. Fire Department was notified, and the student was freed.

Monday Oct. 17

A swastika was drawn onto a flag hanging on the door to a student's room in Anderson Hall. Public Safety would not state the origin of the flag, but did confirm the act was a hate crime motivated by "ethnicity" rather than sexual orientation or race.

An AU grounds-keeping vehicle collided with a privately owned vehicle outside of McCabe hall. There were no reported injuries.

Tuesday, Oct. 18

A staff member reported damage to his private vehicle, which was parked in the Sports Center Garage.

A staff member's office in the Batelle-Tompkins building was broken into, and a laptop was stolen.

Public Safety discovered a suspicious package in the Batelle-Tompkins building. The package was removed, inspected and found to pose no danger.

A student became stuck in an elevator in Anderson Hall. The D.C. Fire Department was called to the scene, and the student was freed.

A male student began singing the 1973 Marvin Gaye classic, "Let's Get It On," into a microphone in The Tavern, which was still on after an event earlier in the day. The student left the scene after less than a minute of the song and was not identified. No report was filed.
