South Asian Student Association hosted Jalwa fashion show to celebrate cultural ties through clothing
Students who desired to focus on South Asia previously complained about lack of course offerings
When Fatima Tariq, a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of International Service, approached her academic counselor with questions about pursuing a regional focus of South Asia in SIS, she left the office disappointed. Tariq spoke to her counselor in the hopes of expanding the course offerings for the South Asia focus by adding more religion classes, to which she was turned down.
Asma Afsaruddin, a professor at Indiana University-Bloomington, spoke to students Feb. 14 about gender roles in the Quran.
