Count on these predictions for this year’s World Series

Over the next week the Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants will square off to see who becomes the 2010 World Series Champions. Though it’s impossible to know who will ultimately come out on top, Lasky tells us the few things that can be counted on.

Don’t fear the machine: Baseball needs instant replay

With a two-run lead and two outs in the ninth inning on Wednesday, Yankees right fielder Greg Golson made a shoe-string catch that was called a base hit because the umpire ruled that he had trapped the ball. Replays showed that this was not the case. Thankfully for MLB, Twins DH Jim Thome popped out to end the game, instead of tying the game with a home run.

Field hockey coach Steve Jennings finds the winning formula

Since he took over the in 1999, field hockey Head Coach Steve Jennings has transformed the Eagles from a struggling team into the 14th ranked team in the nation. Since 2003, the field hockey team has won seven consecutive Patriot League championships and has qualified for six NCAA tournaments.

AU men’s soccer team bounces back with conference win

The AU Eagles (5-4) defeated the Army Black Knights (1-8) with a 2-0 victory to win their second Patriot league match up Oct. 2. The Eagles improved to 2-0 against Patriot League opponents after beating Bucknell on Sept. 25. The win on Saturday against Army was a nice response to being shutout by Virginia Tech on the 28th.

Eagles dominate Bucknell in men's soccer victory

More than 1,000 fans turned out to watch AU’s men’s soccer take down the Bucknell University Bison Saturday. This success bodes well for The Eagles at the start of the competition that some call “Patriot League Wars.” The team will be up against Virginia Tech on Tuesday and Army the following weekend.
