Top 10 Sporting Legacies

Few times can a coaching change rock the sports world. However, that's exactly what Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski's move to the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers would do. It would signal the shifting of power by college's most successful coach to professional sports' most successful franchise. It only seems appropriate to take a look at the ten greatest legacies in recent memory.

Oh where may the Expos lay?

The years of uncertainty about baseball's Montreal Expos might finally come to a head this month. The Associated Press recently reported that league officials will decide where to put the struggling franchise after the July 13 All-Star Game, and Northern Virginia and D.C. seem to be the frontrunners.

AU asst. coach runs in 1,500 m Olympic semifinals

Sean O'Brien, an AU assistant track coach and former AU track athlete, placed No. 21 of 24 competitors in the 1,500-meter run semifinals at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Sacramento, Calif. on Friday, July 16, according to the USA Track & Field Web site, www.usatf.org.

Former AU athlete killed, 'of interest' in murder cases

Jarion Childs, a standout defensive star and leader for the AU men's basketball team from 1997-2000, was shot and killed in his hometown of Groton, Conn. after breaking into a Dairy Queen shortly after midnight on June 28. His death has been ruled a homicide, according to WFSB, a news channel in Connecticut. Since then, Childs has also been named a "person of interest" involved in murder.

People watch the Olympics with varied interest. To some, the games inspire national pride, to others they offer entertainment. Yet of all the television viewers around the world, few connect to the athletes like the competitors of past Olympic Games and trials. Here, AU athletes and coaches relay their Olympic experiences.



Section 202 host Gabrielle and friends go over some sports that aren’t in the sports media spotlight often, and review some sports based on their difficulty to play.
