Vote Zach Ulrich for SC comptroller because I have proven my dedication to AU students and because you can trust me to work hard. For more than a year now, I have served as Leonard Hall and Off-Campus representatives in the General Assembly. I have worked tirelessly to promote student awareness about the University budget process and have had many late nights with the Government Operations Committee trying to redefine the purpose of the SC through the new constitution.

Opinion: Poor Eagle's Nest quality is AU's fault

Hi. My name is Kevin Wunder. You may know me as the guy who made you a kick-ass Subway sandwich that one time at the Eagle's Nest. More likely, you didn't pay much attention to who was making your sub because you were too busy watching the sandwich like a hawk, making sure I wouldn't grab one of those gross tomatoes, or use a dirty knife, or use bread that is crumbling and falling apart.

In working with University administrators for three years as a member of the Student Advocacy Center, I have learned that they are not the stingy, heartless ogres that some candidates for student government try to portray them as. Labeling the administration an adversary seems like an excuse for having nothing substantial to say.

I thank The Eagle for providing space for the SC candidates, and I would like to highlight some aspects of my platform. Our campus shuttles provide an excellent service, but they are not operating as safely or as timely as they should. A lot of students have horror stories of being on the shuttle when our safety has been compromised, and that needs to stop.

The problems we face are right in front of us, and they must be confronted. The administration either fails to act or, when it does, does not take the student voice into consideration. It's wrong that our phone lines are being taken out of our rooms. It's wrong that we will be forced to pay for Ruckus next year.

As this year's Black History Month comes to a close, with it ends the teaching in our public schools of anything to do with black Americans, with the exception of slavery, until next February. Why? Because many teachers and school boards see it as the time in which they are to teach the history of black Americans.

Every year, The Eagle interviews all Student Confederation candidates for their executive offices, and endorses one candidate for each position. This year, with Kevin Gilnack's late withdrawal from the secretary race, there are no candidates on the ballot for secretary, and so we will not be endorsing anyone as a write-in candidate.

The case of the pornographic etchings may finally be solved. This week, Public Safety apprehended a man it said was in his 60s who was caught carving a vulgar image into the wall of a Mary Graydon Center elevator. The man was caught only because of the surveillance cameras in the MGC elevators.

Opinion: U.S. right to stay out of Kyoto

The Kyoto Protocol took effect on Wednesday. It requires 35 industrialized nations to cut their emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases to levels equal to or below what they emitted in 1990 by the end of 2012. The United States is not a party to the treaty.
