Expect a little, gain a lot in 2008

·

While I do not buy the extraordinary emphasis political pundits place on the expectations game, it is an integral part of campaign politics. A candidate's ability to meet, exceed or fall short of his or her expectations will certainly play a big role in 2008, and as it stands now, only two candidates are in prime position to exceed their expectations: Mitt Romney and Hillary Clinton.

WCL gets e-mail bomb threats

The Washington College of Law was searched around 10 p.m. Tuesday night after three e-mails received around 2:30 p.m. indicated there were bombs in the building, according to Michael McNair, chief of AU public safety. No explosives were found. Officials waited to search the building until classes were over for the day because there was no concrete information about a date or time in the e-mail and because several other colleges have received similar e-mails that proved to be hoaxes in the last few weeks, according to McNair.

Embracing a 'radical' tendency within

I used to call myself a Republican. It was a short phase, lasting from September 2001 until early 2007. Back in the 2000 presidential vote I wanted Al Gore to win because I was 11 years old and he looked smarter in the Saturday Night Live debates. But when he lost, I didn't mind.

Historic synagogue hosts more than Shabbat

Music has always held an exalted position in houses of worship. For some, venues like the Black Cat and the 9:30 club are home to many nontraditional spiritual awakenings. Letters to the editor

Recycling on campus I am writing this piece in response to an article last year about the ongoing effort in making the AU community greener with the addition of bio-diesel and electric vehicles and other environmentally-friendly procedures. Though I applaud those efforts, I was wondering why such emphasis has been placed on the most advanced of technologies when the simplest of methods has been almost completely ignored - recycling.
