AU sports logo not in a store near you

The AU Campus Store is not authorized to sell merchandise with an AU Athletics logo, according to store director Stacey Elofir. Demand for new sports apparel increased after the men's and women's basketball teams won their respective Patriot League championships, according to Student Government President Joe Vidulich.

Modern dance troupe climbs to new heights

It's unusual to see acrobatic feats of modern dance partnered with ladders in any setting. But it is perhaps more unusual to see those displays for free. On Monday, ClancyWorks Dance Company presented "Taking Steps," selections from its impressive repertoire that incorporates the backgrounds of every member, at the Helen Hayes Gallery at National Theatre.

Women's lacrosse falls to Mason

The women's lacrosse team snapped its season-long four-game winning streak Wednesday afternoon, losing to the No. 12 ranked George Mason Patriots 15-7 at Jacobs Field. Despite a hat trick by senior attacker Jackie Lane, the Eagles fell behind right from the opening whistle and were unable to ever catch up.

Panel: GOP needs to develop '08 strategies

The Republican Party needs two different campaign strategies depending on which candidate wins the Democratic Party's presidential primary, "The Almanac of American Politics" author Michael Barone said during a panel discussion on Republican election strategies at AU last night.

Students protest to support Tibet uprising

Students have staged protests in D.C. every day since the Chinese response to the uprising in Tibet turned violent, according to Rich Felker, mid-Atlantic coordinator for Students for a Free Tibet. The protesters wanted to express their support for the Tibetan freedom movement to both China and the world community, he said.

CAMPUS AU Hillel head named to national board The national Hillel named Rita Simon, president of AU's Hillel governing board, as the organization's Exemplar of Excellence March 23. Simon, one of three existing University Professors, said she received the Exemplar honor because of her work to improve AU's Hillel.

Glenn, Cannon earn all-American honors

Senior Josh Glenn and sophomore Mike Cannon earned all-American status due to their respective fifth and sixth place finishes in the NCAA National Wrestling championships held over the weekend. Glenn, the defending national champion in the 197-lb. weight class, saw his bid for back-to-back titles end when he lost in the semifinals to University of Maryland's Hudson Taylor 9-6.

Review: 'Stop' to reflect on soldiers' lives

Movies of all shapes and sizes are bound to explore an issue as controversial as the Iraq war. While many are going to be mindless action flicks and gory stories of war, some are going to be profound trips into the human psyche. Students, faculty, staff and community members chanted and cheered in front of Mary Graydon Center yesterday as the men's basketball team departed for Birmingham, Ala., to play in their first-ever NCAA tournament game on Friday. Student Government President Joe Vidulich said he was excited about the historic run of the men's basketball team.

The D.C. Council unanimously passed legislation March 4 requiring employers to give workers paid sick leave, a move that gave supporters mixed feelings about the bill's outcome due to its exemption of certain workers - including students. Fraternity sends packages to support troops

Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity held its third biannual "Bringing Home to the Troops" donation drive this week in the midst of other events marking the fifth anniversary of the start of the Iraq war. "Bringing Home to the Troops" was the brainchild of Bill Quinn, a senior in the Kogod School of Business and a member of the fraternity.
