Brooklyn's Biohazard: the exclusive interview

Over the summer, in promoting their new album, "State of the World Address," New York band Biohazard played in the nearby Merriweather Post Pavilion, opening for Sepultura and Pantera. Biohazard is (and always will be, according to the CD jacket): Billy Graziadei - vocals, guitar, piano; Bobby Hambel - lead guitars, acoustic guitars; Danny Schuler - drums; and Evan Seinfeld - vocals, bass. Candidates debate issues

The biggest issue in the upcoming city council election is D.C.'s financial crisis, candidates for Ward 3 council member and audience members said at a candidates' forum Thursday night. The forum, which was held at McLean Gardens condominiums, was one of several which have been held in the past several weeks to allow the public to ask questions to the four candidates running for Ward 3 council member, Democratic incumbent Jim Nathanson, Democratic challengers Kathy Patterson and James Montgomery, and Republican challenger Philip Murphy.

Bill Rago (Danny DeVito) suddendly finds himself unemployed after being fired from his job as an advertising executive, and also finds he can't do anything else. After suffering through the red tape and long lines of the unemployment office, he is finally given a job that he figures he could do: Teach basic comprehension to a group of soldiers at a nearby Army post.

Renovating Anderson: Phase one

After a waiting period that left it last in the line of halls to be renovated, the Phase I renovations on Anderson Hall were finally completed this summer. And what was it that excited residents most about the refurbished hall? The source of excitement is not the temporary carpets, nor the better air conditioning units but is reportedly the new lounge kitchens.

Bender Library upgrades

Bender Library went through various improvements this summer, including the installation of high-tech periodical services and data bases as well as some revamped old services which are ready for use this fall.

Film Review: City Slickers II

"City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold" repackages the Western adventure as a cure for the mid-life crises of Mitch (Billy Crystal) and Phil (Daniel Stern). Either Ed (Bruno Kirby) found a new vacation-type catharsis for his yuppie-dom, or the rumors of tension between Kirby and Crystal are more than rumors, because Kirby is replaced by John Lovitz, stiff at first, as Mitch's brother.

Music Review: b-tribe

Simplicity is pure. But b-tribe artfully combines many styles and sounds together with surprising fluidity. B-tribe was the result of a collaboration project between The Gypsy Kings and Enigma, if you could imagine such a mix. The basis of this compilation is flamenco music - flamenco puro- and synth melodies.

Music Review: "The Crow" Soundtrack

The music of "The Crow" is so interwoven with the film that it is much more than the normal filler between dialogue. Cut free by AU, nationals, ZBT appeals decision

AU severed its affiliation with Zeta Beta Tau fraternity's Beta Psi chapter on June 30 for what Dean of Students John Martone called "flagrant and serious violations of University policies." ZBT national followed suit August 10 by cutting off ties with the AU chapter.

Milstein announces departure as dean, says purchase of new site is highlight

Elliott Milstein is calling it quits as dean of the Washington College of Law. A 22-year AU veteran in his seventh year as dean, Milstein will step aside at the end of the 1994-95 academic year for his as-yet unnamed successor. He will remain in WCL as a professor.

Film Review: "Barcelona"

If you are someone who likes movies with a plot, character development, and continuity, "Barcelona" is not the movie for you. This new film written and directed by Whit Stillman, also the creator of the critically "disclaimed" "Metropolitan," is quite reminiscent of his past work ... unfortunately.
