AU aims to help student voters

In response to the upcoming election in November and reports of registration difficulties, AU is working to maximize student turnout at the polls, according to Assistant Dean of Students Sara Waldron.

According to the roster he was the smallest player on the field, but what the roster doesn't say is that he also has one of the biggest hearts on the team. One wouldn't have known it, though, because Freddy Llerena played so much bigger than the 5 feet 7 inches he is listed as on the roster.

Watkins exhibit features AU alum

The Watkins Gallery will exhibit the latest sculptures by AU alumna and former professor Jennie Lea Knight until Oct. 23. The small wooden farm animals on display represent a new style for Knight, whose career has been built on large abstract sculptures since it began in the 1950s.

Traffic to worsen in Georgetown

The Wisconsin Avenue Bridge is undergoing a $1.6 million dollar preservation and repair by the D.C. Department of Transportation until May 2005. The reconstruction of the bridge, over the Chesapeake River and Ohio Canal in Georgetown, takes place 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday and has limited northbound traffic to one lane from M to K Street. In addition, the southbound traffic has been detoured to 29th, 30th and 31st streets.

Ultimate comes up big

AU's Men's and Women's Utimate Frisbee teams kicked off their seasons this past weekend at the club regional sectionals in Fort Bellevore, Va., with the men placing sixth. The tournament, which pits local club teams against each other, featured the men finishing sixth overall and first among all colleges participating.

My big gay rock wedding

Instead of the typical listing of shows featuring indie "it" bands, the best of pop punk and radio-ready adult contemporary, the 9:30 club is taking a night off from its usual three-act music shows on Tuesday to present something less than usual. WEDrock, an event put on by the gay rights coalition Freedom to Marry, is a different kind of show altogether.
