Women’s basketball maintains second place in the PL with road win

The Eagles got off to a hot start, going on an 11-1 run in the middle of the first quarter, forcing BU to take two timeouts in a one-minute span. AU’s first quarter success was attributed to successful defensive rebounding, which prevented BU from scoring on second chances.

In the first half senior guard Alexis Dobbs scored 12 points, along with five rebounds and four assists. Dobbs finished the game with 22 points, a career-high eight rebounds and team-best five assist. The second highest scorer for AU was junior guard Jen Dumiak with 10.

At the end of the first half BU was able to close the gap, heading into halftime down 29-23

The start of the second didn’t start well for the Eagles with the Eagles as they missed multiple shots. The Terriers took the lead in the first two minutes of the second half going up 31-29.

As AU missed shots BU was able to recover the ball for defensive rebounds and score enough points to gain the lead.

The second quarter developed into a back and forth affair. The lead changed six times before AU was able to get back into a groove. With three minutes left made a three-pointer assisted by Dobbs which started a 7-0 run that which gave the Eagles the victory.

The Eagles will return home to Bender Arena Jan. 25 to host Army for National Girls and Women in Sports Day. After the game AU is offering a free clinic for children in attendance.
