Planned campus power outages to begin tonight

The power in some residence halls and academic buildings will be shut off on Oct. 27 and 28 to install the electricity in the McKinley Building.

According to the Facilities Management website, the electricity will be turned off on Oct. 27 from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. in Southside buildings, including:

  • Anderson, Centennial, Letts, Clark and Roper Halls
  • School of International Service
  • Kreeger Building, Watkins Building and the Media Production Center
  • Gray, McCabe, Jack Child and Rockwood Halls
  • Child Development Center
  • and the Public Safety Building.

Most academic buildings on the quad will experience a power outage on Oct. 28 from 5-6 a.m., including:

  • Battelle-Tompkins Building
  • Beeghly and Hurst Hall
  • Bender Library
  • the East Quad Building
  • Kay Spiritual Life Center
  • Kogod School of Business Building
  • the Mary Graydon Center
  • and Ward Circle Building.

Electricity will be available in the Hatch in Leonard Hall because the residence hall will not be affected by the power outage, according to an email from Housing and Dining Programs.

The power outage will also not affect Public Safety’s procedures or operations, including their emergency line, according to Phone Operator Eric Cruz.

The power outage was rescheduled to this weekend due to bad weather on Oct. 11, according to an email from Housing and Dining Programs.

Facilities Management did not respond in time for the article.
