Tenley Wine and Liquor\'s liquor license was suspended from Nov. 25 to Nov. 29.

Tenley Wine and Liquor reopens

Tenley Wine and Liquor’s liquor license was restored Nov. 30 after police discovered the store selling alcohol to a minor.

Tenley Liquor’s license was suspended Nov. 24 to Nov. 29, temporarily closing the store. This is the second violation within two years that the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration has issued to Tenley Liquor. The first violation occurred on July 28.

On Feb. 25, ABRA and Metropolitan Police Department officials were stationed near the store following multiple complaints about underage alcohol purchasing. The store did not take sufficient measures to ensure valid identification from an underage customer at that time, according to an ABRA investigation report.

MPD saw two young men leave the store with two bottles of vodka. One of the boys was arrested for carrying a fake ID, according to the report.

The owner of Tenley Liquor could not be reached for comment.

ABRA gave the store a $4,000 fine and forced it to close between Nov.24 and 29.

The July violation resulted after the store sold liquor to a 15 year old. Despite Tenley Liquor obtaining a fake ID machine, the 15-year-old customer was able to purchase the liquor without problem.
