18 local students sent to area hospitals after Nebraska Avenue bus crash

A bus containing 18 middle school and high school students collided with two other vehicles on Nov. 26 at about 7:45 a.m., resulting in multiple injuries on Nebraska Avenue in front of the National Presbyterian Church.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

The bus was heading to the private Field School, which reported that two high school students were transported to the George Washington Children’s Hospital by ambulance with injuries. Seven students were taken to Howard University Hospital and nine were taken to Children’s Hospital for precautionary examinations, according to a press release from Will Layman, director of advancement at Field School.

The bus is run by Reston Limousines. The driver, an employee of Reston Limousines, was also taken to the hospital and has been released, according to Layman. Additionally, the driver of one of the other vehicles was also taken to the hospital, according to the Washington Post.

“All 18 Field students have been released, and all but one returned to school before the end of classes,” Layman said in the press release.
