AU students abroad in Syria return to U.S.

All six AU students studying abroad in Syria have safely returned to the U.S. following their evacuation April 15.

AU Abroad is working to determine how much of each student’s coursework was completed while studying at the University of Aleppo, according to AU Abroad Associate Director Mark Hayes.

Some non-language courses will be finished online with professors in Syria, Hayes said. Credit for unfinished Arabic classes is being determined on an individual basis, and students will work with AU professors to complete the language material.

The University will cover all costs necessary for the students to make up their credits, Hayes said.
