Police blotter

Feb. 18

An elevator technician responded and freed an individual from a stuck elevator in Letts Hall. No injuries were reported.

A desk receptionist reported seeing individuals #1, #2 and #3 enter the McDowell Hall lobby together. Individual #1 was carrying a paper bag containing what appeared to be bottles of alcoholic beverages. When confronted, individual #1 displayed the bottles (two bottles of vodka and one bottle of wine) to the desk receptionist. A resident director responded to the scene. Individual #1 refused to relinquish the bottles when requested. The Department of Public Safety informed individual #1 of the campus alcohol policy. Individuals #2 and #3 stated they were walking individual #1 up to their room. Individual #1 was issued a barring notice and was escorted off campus. Individuals #2 and #3 poured out the alcohol.

Feb. 19

Resident assistants, a resident director and Public Safety responded to a report a person vomiting in a women’s bathroom. The sick person stated she drank a shot of rum, a shot of vodka and four beers at a party off campus. A specific address was not given. D.C. Fire Department transported her to the hospital.

Public Safety discovered two flower pots had been overturned outside the Kay Spiritual Center. The pots were not damaged.

DCFD and Facilities Management responded and freed an individual from a stuck elevator in the Mary Graydon Center. No injuries were reported.

While on routine patrol, Public Safety discovered a hole in a wall in the Kreeger Building. Facilities Management was notified.

A glass door was shattered on the third level of Butler Pavilion. It was speculated high winds may have slammed the door shut hard enough to break the glass.

Feb. 20

DCFD transported a sick person from the Ward Circle Building to the hospital.

Feb. 21

A student last saw her AUID on Feb. 16 at approximately 1 p.m. When she checked her account online, she discovered a fraudulent charge had been made on the card.

On Feb. 14, at 2:30 p.m., individual #1 met individual #2 at a Metro station and sold him a used SD card for $40. On Feb. 21, at 1:47 a.m., individual #2 sent individual #1 an e-mail stating he would be coming to AU to find individual #1 and resolve the issue of the counterfeit SD card. Individual #1 sent an e-mail to individual #2 advising him he wanted no additional contact from individual #2.

An injured person signed a medical refusal form at the Bender Arena. A resident director assisted with transportation for the injured person.

Feb. 22

DCFD transported an injured person from the Hamilton Parking Lot to the hospital.

Feb. 23

A bicycle was taken from a Capital Hall bike rack. The bike had been secured to the rack via a cable combination lock.

Public Safety responded to a report of an intoxicated person in the shuttle zone. Public Safety met with the individual. He was seated on an AU shuttle bus. The individual stated he drank at a local bar prior to boarding the bus. Without having been asked, the individual stated he “wasn’t in a fight.” The individual had some drops of blood on his pants and several scraped knuckles. The individual had been previously barred from AU. Public Safety took the individual to Public Safety headquarters and later released him to his father.

DCFD transported a sick person from Federal Hall to the hospital.

Damage was discovered to elevator call buttons on the first and third floors of Capital Hall. Screws to an emergency phone were loose.

Feb. 24

DCFD transported an injured person from the Sports Center to Sibley Memorial Hospital.

Desk staff reported eggs were thrown at the Hughes Hall front door. When Public Safety arrived, two students approached and stated they were throwing eggs at each other. One egg missed the intended target and hit the door. Aramark was contacted to have it cleaned.

Feb. 25

Public Safety discovered graffiti (drawings) on a wall in the McKinley Building. Aramark was contacted to have them removed.

A fire hydrant outside Letts Hall became detached from a sidewalk during snow removal efforts, which began Jan. 26. The hydrant was discovered missing approximately one week later.

Public Safety responded to a report of an injured person inside Butler Pavilion. The individual signed a medical refusal form.

Public Safety saw an individual running through the main quad wearing only an adult diaper.

On Feb. 25, at 11:11 p.m., the Metropolitan Police Department and Public Safety responded to an off-campus noise complaint and heard loud talking coming from a house. A resident was advised to have the noise lowered or risk having the party shut down. On Feb. 26 at 2:06 a.m., both agencies responded to a second complaint. The resident advised Public Safety the party was ending. Public Safety remained on the scene as a group of students left the house.

Feb. 26

A resident assistant reported having discovered a water fountain ripped from a wall in Capital Hall. Water leaked onto a carpet. A 2fix ticket was initiated. Aramark was contacted.

At 6:15 a.m., Public Safety responded to a report of a fire and discovered a large amount of smoke in the lobby of Capital Hall. Fire was seen coming from a menu shelf attached to a wall. Public Safety extinguished the flame with a fire extinguisher. Menus and plastic on the shelf were burned. Facilities Management responded. The fire alarm was not activated.

DCFD transported a sick person from Hughes Hall to Sibley Memorial Hospital.

DCFD transported a sick/injured person from McDowell Hall to the hospital.

A plastic file box containing documents and papers were taken from an office in Hurst Hall.

An off-campus neighbor complained of loud noise, males urinating in a backyard, and trash, including beer bottles, strewn in her front yard. The complainant stated a neighbor placed a note on her front door at approximately 2:00 a.m. The note appeared to be signed by student #1. The note stated the following: “Hey Neighbors! We’ve been trying to get a hold of you all week! We are having a get together tonight. Please call me, [Student #1] at [number deleted] if you have any problems. Thank you!’ [Student #1] [Student #1 house number deleted].” At 12:02 p.m, Public Safety contacted student #1. She stated she wrote the note and one of her friends left it at the neighbor’s front door. At 12:15 p.m., Public Safety noticed the yard had been cleared of the trash.

An injured person in Hughes Hall signed a medical refusal form and was issued a cab voucher.

While on patrol, a Capital Hall resident assistant discovered graffiti on top of a water fountain. Aramark was notified to have it removed.
