To Whom it May Concern,
The South Asian Student Association (SASA) would like to apologize for not including Eric Reath in the e-mail. Here is exactly what happened. Dan Lewis, the man in charge of the endorsement process, emailed SASA with the e-mail addresses of every candidate that is currently running for a position. The president of the SASA, Ritanch Hans, read this e-mail and decided he wanted to continue with the endorsement process. He went through all the e-mail addresses and accidentally missed Eric’s e-mail when copying them into a new email. Sometimes, when you have to copy and paste fifty emails you accidentally miss one, it happens. We are truly sorry for what happened, but we feel the punishment is too severe. This school already has problems trying to get people involved with Student Government, and when student organizations try to get involved and then get penalized for a small mistake, it makes people not want to continue with the election process. Even though this path for endorsement has been a little bumpy along the way, we would like the right to be able to endorse the candidates who we feel best represent us. Once again we would like to apologize to Eric for the mistake.
On another note, in case people were wondering what the South Asian Student Association is, here is what we do. The purpose of the South Asian Student Association is to extend and promote South Asian culture at American University. Our events will immerse members in South Asian traditions and culture. SASA truly wishes to establish a presence on the AU campus. Our membership body is comprised of many different ethnicities, faiths and shades. Although many of our members come from South Asia, our purpose integrates the AU community with South Asian Students by exposing them to our culture. An example of that is our annual Holi on the Quad, where hundreds of students come together and throw colored water and powder at each other. We invite everyone to come out and have fun! It will be held April 17, 2-4 p.m. on the Quad next to Kay!
Sincerely, SASA Executive Board
