Oct. 30

Public Safety responded to a report of an intoxicated individual in Leonard Hall. Student #1 was conscious, confused, vomited and fell down. Student #2 indicated she and student #1 went to a party at an undisclosed location and consumed three to five drinks containing vodka between 9 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. the D.C. Fire Department transported student #1, accompanied by student #3, to a local hospital.

At 12:40 a.m. the Metropolitan Police Department requested Public Safety’s assistance at a neighborhood location. An MPD officer said he stopped a vehicle at the intersection, and the four occupants of the vehicle fled the area on foot at 10:20 p.m., abandoning the vehicle. The MPD officer spoke with the vehicle’s registered owner who said his son, student #1, was in possession of the vehicle.

The MPD officers stated officers were in the area responding to a noise complaint in the 5000 block of Yuma Street NW. At 12:50 p.m., student #1 walked up to the scene, wearing all black clothing, and inquired about the situation. The MPD officer stated one suspect who fled the vehicle was wearing all black clothing. Student #1 stated he had been at the address on Yuma Street and was under the impression that his vehicle was being driven back to his residence by friends. Student #1 was informed of the situation and called student #2. Student #1 identified student #2 as being a passenger in the vehicle. Student #1 identified another passenger as student #3. Student #1 stated the vehicle was driven by another individual who he did not specifically identify but was reportedly not affiliated with AU.

Student #1 stated student #2 was currently in possession of the car keys. Student #1 stated student #2 refused to return to the scene and was sending another person to deliver the car keys. At 1:15 a.m., Student #4 arrived to deliver the car keys. Student #4 stated she got the keys from student #2 on Massachusetts Avenue. The MPD officer advised student #1 he was not to drive the vehicle due to having recently consumed alcoholic beverages. The vehicle was parked. All parties left the scene.

Public Safety responded to a report of an intoxicated individual inside McDowell Hall. A resident assistant saw student #1 vomiting in a hallway. Upon Public Safety’s arrival, student #1 was shaking and barely responsive. Student #2 stated she and student #1 consumed vodka at a party at an undisclosed location. DCFD arrived on the scene. Student #1 was transported to a local hospital.

A student reported having left his residence on Wisconsin Avenue on Oct. 29 at 10:30 p.m. He stated his roommate arrived at 12:30 a.m. and noticed all the doors were open. Several computers and a video game were taken from the residence. MPD was notified.

Public Safety responded to the Tenley Metro Bus stop at 11:45 p.m. to a report of an intoxicated individual. The individual was not found at that location. Public Safety saw an individual on his hands and knees vomiting near Congressional Hall. The individual stated he had been drinking alcoholic beverages at an undisclosed location off campus since 11:00 p.m. He stated he consumed six shots of vodka. DCFD transported him to a local hospital.

Oct. 31

Two resident assistants reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana coming from a room in McDowell Hall while conducting their rounds. Two resident directors arrived and contacted three occupants of the room. When a resident director mentioned taking administrative action, student #1 produced a bag containing a green leafy substance and swallowed it. The resident directors noticed a plastic bag had been placed over the smoke detector and a towel had been placed at the bottom of the door. A bottle of Febreze was nearby. Student #1 denied smoking or eating marijuana. Student #2 denied anyone smoked in her room. A resident director searched the room and recovered some drug paraphernalia, including a pipe. Confiscated residue tested positive for marijuana. Occupant #3’s father was notified.

Public Safety responded to a report of an intoxicated student inside Letts Hall. The student was conscious, slightly coherent, spoke with slurred speech, moved with an apparent wobble and had dry heaves. The student indicated she began drinking shots of vodka in Letts Hall at approximately 10 p.m. The student went to an off-campus party and drank beer and “jungle juice.” DCFD transported her to a local hospital.

An “exit” sign and ceiling tile were discovered damaged. The sign was pulled out of place. A ceiling tile was broken. Aramark cleaned the debris from the floor, and Facilities Management replaced the sign.

An AU shuttle bus collided head on into a tree on Nebraska Avenue. The tree was uprooted. A speed limit sign and an electric light pole were also damaged. There were no passengers on the bus during the accident. DCFD transported the driver to a local hospital. MPD, PEPCO and the District Department of Transportation Urban Forestry were notified.

A cab transported an injured student to a local hospital.

A student placed her wallet on her bed and fell asleep in her room inside Capital Hall. The door was unlocked. Later, the student received a phone call from a bank attempting to confirm a purchase. At this time the student noticed her wallet was missing. Unauthorized charges were made on her bank cards.

Nov. 1

Property, including a laptop computer, was removed from an unsecured locker inside the sports center. No personal information was stored on the computer.

A bicycle was taken from a bike rack outside the Ward Circle Building. The bike had been secured with a cable lock.

While conducting rounds, a resident assistant smelled a strong odor of marijuana inside Letts Hall. A resident director gave Public Safety paraphernalia and said three students were smoking alleged marijuana. The students admitted to smoking marijuana in a dorm room. Green leafy substance in the baggie tested positive for marijuana.

Nov. 2

DCFD transported a sick person from Letts Hall to a local hospital.

An individual reported having been struck by a vehicle as he was walking south on the sidewalk of New Mexico Avenue, NW. The driver stopped and inquired as to the pedestrian’s welfare. The pedestrian indicated he did not need to go to the hospital. Both the pedestrian and driver left the scene. The identity of the driver and vehicle are not known. No serious injury was reported. Reportedly, the vehicle was exiting Nebraska Lot and struck the pedestrian where the exit ramp intersects the sidewalk.

DCFD transported an injured person from inside the sports center to a local hospital.

Public Safety responded to a fire alarm in Letts Hall and discovered smoke coming from food burning on a stove. There was no fire. Windows were opened to ventilate the area. Facilities Management responded to the scene. The alarm was reset.

Public Safety found an individual lying down on a sidewalk and vomiting at Glover Gate. The individual’s speech was broken and he did not appear to be in complete control when standing. The individual indicated he drank in an apartment. DCFD transported him to a local hospital.

Nov. 3

An outer covering of a fire pull station mounted on a column in Centennial Garage was broken, possibly by a vehicle backing into it. A witness heard a noise coming from the direction of the column and then noticed a vehicle quickly pulling away from the column. The vehicle was not identified.

Public Safety discovered graffiti on a column of Ward Circle Building. Aramark was notified.
