'Wonky' truck serves lunch on Quad

The latest installment of the wonk campaign was a food vendor truck that showed up on the main quad this afternoon to sell Wonky Dogs, Wonky Fries and grilled cheese, among other fast food options.

The appearance of the “Eat Wonky” truck, a food vendor that launched over the summer, was orchestrated through the University Communications and Marketing Team’s Twitter account for American University Wonks, @AmericanWonks.

Alumni, students and staff suggested the truck come to campus via Facebook and Twitter, according to Jon Hussey, manager of Web communications for AU Communications and Marketing.

“We thought it was interesting that this food truck launched this summer and was playing off of the presence of the word wonk in D.C.,” Hussey said in an e-mail. “We re-tweeted their requests with the American Wonks Twitter account and the Eat Wonky staff quickly responded eager to bring their truck to campus.”
