Police blotter

March 25

A community member ingested a possible poisonous substance in Letts Hall. Public Safety officers responded and made contact with the community member. D.C. Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services and the Metropolitan Police Department responded. The community member was transported to the hospital.

An individual with a history of shoplifting was seen in the Campus Store. When Public Safety approached him, the individual pushed the officer away, fled toward the Wesley Theological Seminary parking lot and left in vehicle.

An individual reported people smoking marijuana in a Nebraska Hall room. Public Safety responded and noticed six individuals trying to exit a residence hall room in a hurry. Public Safety identified the individuals. One of the individuals retrieved a pipe from the room. A resident director arrived on the scene and advised the individuals they will be referred to Judicial Affairs and Mediation Services.

A student in Leonard Hall was standing on a chair when he fell and struck his eye on a corner of the chair. He sustained small lacerations underneath and near the corner of his left eye. Accompanied by the reporting person, the student was transported to the hospital via taxi.

March 26

An employee last saw her purse in the Ward Circle building at 8:00 a.m. She left the class at approximately 8:50 a.m. to attend a function in Mary Graydon Center. Later, she realized she did not have her purse. At approximately 9:25 a.m., she returned to Ward but was unable to locate the purse.

An individual became stuck in an elevator in Hughes Hall. An elevator technician responded and released the individual. No injuries were reported.

A contractor reported damage to two secured doors in Letts. Wires were pulled from one door. A cover protecting wires was pulled from another door.

A community member reported that her father restricted her from leaving their home in Potomac, Md., for a period of five days.

March 28

A student in Letts complained of extreme abdominal pain. DCFD transported her to the hospital.

March 29

A bicycle was taken from a bike rack near Hughes. The bike had been secured with a chain. The chain was cut and left at the rack.

A student reported receiving a derogatory text message from a suspect from her hometown. Officers responded and took a report.

A complainant reported a tire was slashed on her vehicle while it was parked in front of AU. Officers responded and took a report.

March 30

A student left his wallet unsecured and unattended at a reading cubicle in Bender Library for approximately five minutes. When he returned, the wallet was gone.

Three students were stuck in an elevator in Hughes. An individual with an elevator repair company responded to the scene and opened the elevator doors. No injuries were reported.

Public Safety witnessed a truck make a turn and strike a parked vehicle in the Nebraska Lot. The driver did not have ID. MPD responded to the incident. No one was injured.

A student in MGC reported receiving harassing messages on Facebook. A Public Safety officer responded and generated a report.

A student in Letts experienced shortness of breath, a racing heart and light-headedness. DCFD/EMS transported the student, accompanied by a resident assistant, to the hospital.

DCFD transported a student in McDowell Hall who was experiencing severe neck spasms and pain to the hospital.

March 31

DCFD and EMS transported a student who was experiencing tremors and stomach pain in the Butler Pavilion to the hospital.

MPD transported a student in Centennial Hall to the hospital. The student was believed to have attempted to harm himself through asphyxiation.

DCFD transported a student who was experiencing symptoms of a panic attack in the Letts-Anderson quad to the hospital. The reporting person indicated the student was experiencing a "weed overdose" after having smoked marijuana in a room in Anderson Hall. The RD advised the incident would be referred to JAMS.


Section 202 host Gabrielle and friends go over some sports that aren’t in the sports media spotlight often, and review some sports based on their difficulty to play.
