The last car of a six-car Metrorail train derailed at the Mount Vernon Square station Thursday evening, The Washington Post reported.
No injuries were reported as a result of the derailment, which occurred around 6:30 p.m. on a section of the yellow line that is shared with the green line, the Post reported. Trains in both directions shared a track after the accident.
According to the article, the car involved in the derailment was the same type of car involved in 13 of the 20 derailments that have occurred in the past six years. Cars of this type make up about 17 percent of all Metro cars.
A separate incident caused delays on the orange line Thursday morning, the Post reported.
