Ask AU: What are you doing for Inauguration weekend?

"Providing my roommate can get me out of bed in the morning, she's going to, well we're going to-there's four of us-me, my roommate, my boyfriend and his roommate, we're all going to trek down to the Mall, leaving campus around four if not earlier to attempt to get spots on the parade route. That's providing she can wake me up because I'm not a morning person." -Becky Mazzanotte, SIS/SOC sophomore

"I'm going to be gone until Monday afternoon and then just before they unroll the bridges from VA, I'm going to come back into town. My wife and I live on campus, we actually live in Nebraska Hall. On Tuesday we're going to have a pizza thing in the common area in Nebraska for the folks that aren't downtown freezing in the crowd." -Wendell Cochran, SOC Professor

"I'm going to bury myself in a hole because I want to avoid all traffic, but I'll try walking and avoid cabs at all costs. As for Inauguration, I'll get up at the crack of dawn, so like four or five o'clock, with some friends and try and head down to the Mall just to be there. I don't really care if we get a glimpse of the President or anything. As much as I would like to go to the free concert, I don't think that's feasible because everyone's going to want to go to the concert. So I think it's just getting down there and seeing the crowds. I mean, it is history in the making and I'm in DC; I don't know why I would stay in my apartment. So yeah, I'm going to try to get down there." -Pauline Taftenhoye, SIS junior

"I plan to go down to the free concert on the Mall at the Lincoln Memorial because there's some great performers for free. Then I'll probably try and camp out and get a spot on the parade route but not try to go see the speeches. But I'm looking forward to watching the parade go down." -David Teslicko, SIS senior

"We're walking early down to a restaurant, since some are open 24 hours, and staying there all night then going to the Inauguration on Tuesday. We'll sleep on Monday, but not on Tuesday." -Emma Mallonee, SIS Freshman
