The outgoing Undergraduate Senate unanimously certified the election results for the incoming senate at their last meeting Sunday afternoon.
The new senate was sworn into office at their first meeting later that day.
Student Government President Seth Cutter told the new senators he looked forward to working with them and encouraged them to remember their obligation to serve the student body.
"We are making life better for the students," he said. "We must find a way to reach the constituents."
At their meeting, the new senate elected former Senator Andrew MacCracken as speaker of the senate. MacCracken said he hoped to serve as an effective medium between the senate and the students and effectively address the issues that affect the university.
"I don't want to legislate from the chair," he said. "But if I see an issue that isn't being covered, I will suggest that senators pursue them," he said.
