Cheap dates that won't blow your load

According to Urban Dictionary, "splurge" has a dual meaning - one, "to spend money freely with no remorse" or two, to "bust a nut." In either sense of the word, this column will explore the romance of dating and the desire of sex enough to keep your libido satisfied and wanting much, much more.

While you are on the date of a lifetime, please, feel free to splurge! This column will suggest dates costing $35 or less. Every other week, it will help you keep your newfound - or established - relationships alive and lusty with new adventurous outings at a reasonable college student price.

On the flip side, the weeks between these dynamic date suggestions, this column will explore all sides of relationships. Feel free to send your thoughts and questions my way. Though I am not a professional sexpert, I have done extensive research dealing with problems of the sexual nature. With your help, we can educate and create a campus that is pleased and safely splurging all over the place. Send your comments and questions to my e-mail anonymously at Mia.Libido@gmail.com, or drop them off outside in the box outside of the Eagle office, 252 Mary Graydon Center.

In an attempt to cover all of my bases, I will consult with many different groups outside and inside of school, including the GLBTA Resource Center and the Wellness Center, in order to provide accurate information.

This week is relationship/date suggestion week. We are doing a throwback to the good ol' summer days of being outside with beaches and barbecues. Personally, I miss fried Oreos - dipped in funnel cake batter and fried, trust me it's amazing - and campfires. Unfortunately, D.C. does not have a beach, nor do we have usable barbecue pits on campus. Nonetheless, here is a solution to your summer appetite.

I recommend dipping into your wallet and bringing your date to Jack's Boathouse, located in beautiful Georgetown underneath the Key Bridge. Jack offers rentals of canoes, single kayaks, tandem kayaks and rowboats. If I were you, I'd go for the tandem! It is $10 per hour for each person. On weekends, they are open from 8 a.m. until sunset. On weekdays, it is from 10 a.m. until sunset. It's certainly a gorgeous way to spend your afternoon or evening. Plus, you can get to know each other while practically working out. You may even get a little wet.

Jack's Boathouse is located at 3500 K St. N.W. and can be reached by taking a 30 bus to Georgetown. For more information, you can contact Jack's at 202-337-9642.

After splashing around a bit, head over to the good stuff ... literally. Make your way over to Good Stuff Eatery, a hip new burger joint opened by last season's "Top Chef" contestant Evangelos "Spike" Mendelsohn. Located at 303 Pennsylvania Ave. S.E., Spike has opened an extremely affordable and delectable burger palace that rivals our beloved Five Guys. To keep your date under $35, you can order two Farmhouse Cheese Burgers ($5.89 each) and a side of Spike's Village Fries ($2.79 for a side of regular fries) for a total of $14.57. Add that to your kayaking excursion ($20) and you have a spectacular date for $34.57!

Getting to Spike's Good Stuff Eatery could be a challenge, but the effort is well rewarded. Especially if you decide to splurge over the $35 and get a Milky Way malt shake!

Please let me know how your date went, I would love to hear feedback! For next week, remember, questions about the sex life? Comments? Send it to Mia.Libido@gmail.com, or place your suggestions in the box located outside of the Eagle office, MGC 252.

Happy Splurging!
