Tuesday, April 15

A resident director and Public Safety officers responded to an individual's report of an intoxicated female in a taxi. When the taxi arrived on campus, the student was showing the effects of severe intoxication. The student reported she had been drinking at a club and asked for medical attention. The D.C. Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services transported the student to Sibley Hospital.

Wednesday, April 16

A representative from the Campus Store's corporate office called to report employee theft and requested an officer help escort the employee off campus. Public Safety and Metropolitan Police Department officers responded and took the individual off campus.

A staff member reported an AU grounds employee had sustained injuries after a tree branch fell on the Nebraska Avenue sidewalk near the traffic light. Public Safety contacted the injured staff member at the main campus grounds shop. The employee did not need medical attention and signed a medical refusal form.

A Public Safety aide contacted the Parking and Traffic Department and asked for a camera to take a picture of a fraudulent parking permit. Public Safety took a photo of the permit. Judicial Affairs and Mediation Services will file charges in the case.

Thursday, April 17

A student in Letts Hall reported she was feeling dizzy and having difficulty breathing. DCFD and EMS transported the student to Sibley.

A Student Health Center staff member reported that a student consumed a large quantity of alcohol and had requested an ambulance. DCFD and EMS transported the student to Sibley.

Friday, April 18

An RA in Letts reported that a prospective student may have needed medical attention due to a nose bleed. When Public Safety arrived to attend to the prospective student, she declined medical assistance. Public Safety referred the prospective student to the Student Health Center.

A staff member in the Financial Aid building reported a visitor had fallen and sustained minor injuries to her leg and foot. Public Safety gave an ice pack to the injured visitor. No other medical attention was needed.

During an off-campus interview with Public Safety personnel, a female individual reported an identified suspect sexually assaulted her on Nov. 11, 2007. She indicated that AU officials were already aware of the incident, but she wanted to file a police report with MPD.

Saturday, April 19

A prospective student's family in Massachusetts reported the student's wallet was stolen when left unattended at the Terrace Dining Hall. Unauthorized transactions were charged to two credit cards in the wallet. MPD responded and generated a report.

An RA in Anderson Hall reported someone wrote a harassing message on her message board. The message included a remark about her and a drawing of her. The RA reported four other harassing incidents that occurred between Feb. 29 and March 29. Officers photographed and then erased the message.

An RA in Letts reported an intoxicated individual attempted to enter the hall. Upon officers' arrival, the intoxicated individual was conscious and coherent. The intoxicated individual said she mixed her prescription drugs with alcohol. She began vomiting. DCFD and EMS responded and transported her to Sibley.

Sunday, April 20

Public Safety personnel, who were monitoring security cameras in Anderson, reported a nude male and female in the terrace level of the building in a public place. The suspects were fully clothed when officers arrived. The suspects indicated they were involved in a physical encounter with each other. The RD on duty and two RAs on duty responded to the incident. JAMS will look into the case.

An RA in Anderson reported someone had rearranged a student's room while he was gone for the weekend. The victim stated his roommate had not lived in the room all semester. The victim believes his roommate came back, checked out a key and moved his furniture around. Reportedly, when the victim asked the suspect about the furniture, the suspect did not give a reply. Pictures were taken of the room. The victim did not believe anything was missing or damaged.

Monday, April 21

A tourist with Admissions reported that she fell in the entrance of the AU Museum at Katzen. No particular factors contributed to the fall. She was helped to her feet but could not walk following the incident. DCFD and EMS transported the tourist to Sibley.

Three students in Leonard Hall reported being stuck in an elevator on the fifth floor. DCFD, Facilities Management and the RD on duty responded. DCFD was able to open the elevator and free the students. None of the students reported injuries. Facilities Management placed the elevator out of service until it could repair it.

Tuesday, April 22

An AU staff member in Bender Library reported graffiti in a men's bathroom stall on the second floor. An officer photographed the graffiti. The reporting person said he would contact Facilities Management to remove the graffiti.

An individual with no known AU affiliation reported an IQ test scam being conducted in New Jersey. The person indicated an individual who claimed to be an AU alumnus with a psychology degree had contacted him and offered a free IQ test. The complainant claimed that, as the time to take the test drew near, the alumnus advised him there was a $40 fee. The complainant indicated he took the test approximately two years ago. He also claimed the alumnus broke a confidentiality agreement by speaking to others about the complainant's medical condition. He requested Public Safety facilitate the destruction of the alumnus' diploma. Public Safety advised the complainant to report this matter to his local police department.

A non-resident student reported an individual, who is not allowed on AU property, was in the Bender Library. Public Safety officers responded and made contact with the suspect. They took the suspect to the Public Safety building. They placed the suspect under arrest. MPD officers responded and transported the suspect to the department's Second District headquarters. An MPD officer took control of the case.

A student reported that someone stole his laptop from the Davenport Lounge when he left it unsecured and unattended in a chair for approximately 45 minutes. MPD responded.

Students reported being stuck on an Anderson elevator. Public Safety, DCFD, Facilities Management and the RD on duty responded. DCFD personnel opened the elevator doors and helped free the students. None of the students reported injuries. Facilities Maintenance took the elevator out of service.
