Dr. Scott A. Bass will be AU's next provost, AU President Neil Kerwin announced in an e-mail Wednesday.
Bass is currently vice president for research and graduate school dean at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, The Eagle previously reported.
The announcement came after a nationwide search that eventually narrowed down to four finalists, including Interim Provost Ivy Broder.
Kerwin lauded Bass' qualifications in the e-mail.
"Dr. Bass has developed an impressive knowledge of contemporary higher education through his work at UMBC and in previous positions," he said.
Bass will start July 1, according to the e-mail.
