Officers found a kidnapped zebra on the third floor of an Emory University building in Oxford, Ga., Wednesday morning said the United Press International.
University public safety officers found Barcode, the zebra, in Seney hall when they opened the building, according to UPI.
Curtis Jackson, who owned the 800-pound mammal and another zebra, a parrot, two dogs and a donkey, did not notice Barcode was missing until animal control officials returned the zebra to its 53-acre home, according to the United Press International news agency.
Jackson said he will press theft and trespassing charges against the unidentified kidnappers, UPI reported.
"What they did was fool-hardy and dangerous," Jackson told UPI. "I can't believe they led him that far and didn't get hurt. It's not like taking a goat over there."
Farm animal theft is a long-standing tradition at Emory, Dean Stephen Bowen told the Atlantic Journal-Constitution. The last abduction, which involved a cow, occurred in 1960.
Bowen told the Atlantic Journal-Constitution that those responsible would not be punished.
