Russian sleeps tight despite stabbing

After a long night of drinking, a Russian man didn't notice the 6-inch blade stuck in his back until his wife alerted him to it the next morning, Reuters news agency reported Thursday.

As Yury Lyalin, 53, bent down to get some breakfast from the fridge, his wife saw the knife's handle sticking out, Reuters reported.

Paramedics rushed Lyalin to a hospital in the northern city of Vologda, where doctors determined the knife had not damaged any vital organs.

Despite Lyalin's attempts to underplay the incident, Russian prosecutors are making a case against Lyalin's drinking partner.

He could face eight years in jail if convicted, according to Reuters.
